Natural Stone

Marble, Granite, Quartzite, Slate, Onyx are beautiful, natural materials that never seem to go out of style and goes with just about everything. Purely natural stone that comes directly from stone quarries and is then cut into thin slabs, polished, and fabricated into countertops.

Natural stone countertops are popular in kitchens for a reason. Granite countertops are often cited as the most durable material available and is known for resisting cracks and chips. Marble countertops the other hand, are very pretty, but delicate.

All granite, marble, quartzite, slate, onyx – you name it, stone choices are a purely natural stone that come directly from stone quarries, and then are cut into thin slabs, polished/honed/brushed/leathered, and fabricated into countertops. The one advantage that natural stone has over an engineered stone is that every slab is slightly different in mineral pattern and color, meaning that your countertop will be entirely unique. What’s very beneficial most of the slabs come in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes more than 70 inches wide. For comparison, quartz slabs are seldom larger than 65 inches wide. Wide slabs are a huge benefit for kitchens with sprawling angles since they usually mean fewer seams, which a really great thing about that.

MARBLE

Michelangelo’s David to the Taj Mahal, MARBLE has been the stone of choice for sculptors and architects in many of the world’s great works of art for centuries. Elegant, dramatic and lustrous, marble’s subtle veining and special reflective play of light adds a distinct dimension to kitchen counters, bathrooms, flooring and walls.

GRANITE

Used extensively in construction, GRANITE has long been revered as a sturdy and reliable surface. Granite lined the tunnels of the Great Pyramids of Egypt and added depth and grandeur to the exterior of the Empire State Building. Due to its resistance to grease, stains, scratches and heat, and average lower cost to quartzite, granite can be an ideal choice for tabletops, floors and other heavy-duty applications for large commercial projects or small residential remodels alike.

QUARTZITE

Quartzite is an elegant, distinctly durable metamorphic rock. When sandstone is metamorphosed to quartzite, individual quartz grains re-crystallize to form a beautiful interlocking mosaic of quartz. Quartzite slabs feature colors such as vibrant blue, jewel-like green, and brilliant yellow.

Onyx

ONYX has gained popularity amongst the interior design community for its use in properties at the top end of the residential and commercial market. Known as a “sexy” material, it is quite rare compared to other natural stone, which is partly responsible for the relatively high price it commands. It is also considered to be a semi-precious natural stone.

Soapstone

SOAPSTONE was traditionally used in fine colonial New England homes for fireplaces, hearths, sinks, and countertops due to its elemental earthiness. Its organic beauty and reverence allow it to be used in other parts of the world as sculpture and carving materials, admired by many collectors from Kenya to Brazil to Alaska. Unlike many other fine stones, Soapstone warms quickly and releases its heat slowly, making it an alluringly handsome choice for fireplace interiors, floors and wood burning stoves.

Limestone

Beautiful, versatile LIMESTONE has been the fine stone choice of world-renowned architects, especially throughout Europe and North America, for centuries. Because of its subtle patterning and neutral colorations, limestone has been used to construct landmarks such as large banks, train stations and monuments – structures that have withstood the test of time.

Travertine

TRAVERTINE, a natural stone from the Limestone family, can, over time, transform into Marble. Made of calcium carbonate and usually found near warm or hot springs, it was frequently used in ancient times as a building material. Today, travertine is most used for flooring, shower and tub surrounds as well as in exterior decor. All-travertine bathrooms make for a gorgeous, earthy, and flowing aesthetic. Aside from the obvious beauty that emanates from earthy tones, creamy tan and grey to reddish brown, durability over marble is one of the elements that lead people to choose Travertine

Slate

A fine-grained metamorphic rock, SLATE is popular for a wide variety of uses, especially for outdoor patios, because of its durability and attractive appearance. An extremely versatile rock, it is non-porous and it retains its natural color even in UV light. Aside from outdoor pavers and walling, it is also suitable for countertops, roofing tile, indoor flooring, and stair treads.
